Thank you to everyone who supported us in any way. The total cost of Cathy’s treatment that was not covered by insurance was over $150,000. Through the concert and this web site, we ended up receiving about $65,000 in donations, which was a huge help. Thanks especially to my parents for helping us cover all remaining expenses.
My move to HISD enabled us eventually to get Cathy on a decent insurance plan, and she now appears to be fairly well covered for future expenses. I have therefore removed the “Donate” button from this web site. However, I encourage you to make a donation to the greater war on cancer. If you purchase a copy of the Stand with Cathy book, all profit will be donated to cancer-related benefits. Or you may go directly to the Komen Foundation to make a donation.
Please do join the fight against breast cancer. In the United States alone, over 200,000 women are diagnosed with new cases of breast cancer each year; about 40,000 women die from breast cancer each year; and one in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Chances are, someone you love has had or will have breast cancer. Why not do something about it?
